New Year, New You

UPDATE: I'm OFF MY FIRST MEDICATION!!! It only took like 5 years...but progress is progress!!!
Happy May Day Everybody!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

It's funny how that phrase seems to ring completely true!! A LOT has happened in the past few months, and I mean A LOTTTT!! So for those of you who think nothing will ever change, here's some proof and hope that it can!

1. 1 YEAR SEIZURE FREE!!!!

That's Right!! We did it!! One FULL YEAR with NO SEIZURES!!! I guess taking out that brain blob really served its purpose!! I've been driving, I've been thriving, and I've been conscious for all of it!! It's such a relief to have a license, I tell ya, I got my life back!! I'm still on medication for another few years, just in case, but I'll happily pop a few pill shots to keep driving. And even with the meds, I'm still allowed to drive, and my doctor is weaning me off of them slowly. :)

Feb 2017
March 2018

I'd like to think I made a lot of progress this year....case and point...the fluff...but not just the hair...in a couple other places too...

2. BACK ON STAGE

I truly couldn't be happier to be back on the stage. After 4 whole years of waiting, I got to let out my musical theatre nerd and sing and dance and act in my favorite musical!! My director/aunt/second mother Marcia DiMattia and her partner in crime, Rosemary Allman, revived the musical Lucky Stiff to stage it at the Williamsburg Players community theatre. I had the wonderful pleasure of performing this 6 years ago with the same dynamic duo, in my favorite role of all time, Rita la Porta. She's a crazy gun-toting smoking Jersey girl, for those of you who don't know the show (aka everyone). And I got to reprise my favorite part ever this year at the Players!! The experience was truly a blessing, and the best way to start 2018. I couldn't have asked for a better cast and crew, and every memory makes me smile. For cast members reading this...HIIIII!!!!...Helloooooooooo...FRENCH!!! 😉
my favorite peopleee 💖

3. HISTORY IS NO MYSTERY:

I am so excited to say that I have joined the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and am working with the team planning the 2019 Commemoration. I am the Digital Marketing Coordinator, and I work with our website, www.americanevolution2019.com, our email campaigns, and helping with social media and other written words. I love my team, which is 99% women, and am learning so much, even with part-time hours! I guess I should be thanking all my teachers in Elementary and Middle schools for the 14392572857239009 trips to Jamestown Settlement because at least now I know what I'm marketing for!

4. STAYING SOCIAL:

Since my new job at Jamestown is part-time, I've been able to keep my side hustle, Get Social, somewhat alive! I continue to blog for the Three Sisters Boutique, a fantastic clothing store in Colonial Williamsburg. You can read it HERE. I love my volunteer work with the Williamsburg Players' Facebook page. I get to help promote all their fantastic productions, and bring the community together through THEATRE! 😍😍😍

5. Climbing Up

Hospital no more
2017 was a big year, but a difficult year. It was a difficult mountain to climb, and at the time, it seemed I was making no progress. And we are only 4 months into 2018, and I already know that I've nearly reached the top. Medically, mentally, and professionally, I've reached new heights.

Gone are the recovery days sitting home alone with my cat with no way to travel. Gone are the days of literally being tied down. Gone are the days feeling like I have it the worst.

Here are the days of travel, auditions for The Voice, being on stage, having a car, having a job, and knowing that things are looking up.
